Travis Strong, DVM, MS, DACVO
Dr. Strong is a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist and diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO). He is one of few boarded veterinary ophthalmologists in Ontario. Dr. Strong graduated #1 in his veterinary class at the University of Wisconsin in 2012. He then completed a competitive small animal internship at Colorado State University, followed by a specialty ophthalmology internship in south Florida. Dr. Strong then completed his veterinary ophthalmology residency training at Iowa State University. He became a DACVO in 2019 and has been practicing veterinary ophthalmology in the GTA for several years. Dr. Strong has a particular interest in cataract and corneal surgery.
Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Strong undertook graduate programs in optometry & physiologic optics at The Ohio State University, biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University, and evolutionary biology at Duke University. He also worked for several years as a vascular biologist at the esteemed Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. While rescuing abandoned and homeless animals caused by Hurricane Katrina, he developed a latent inspiration to become a veterinarian. Dr. Strong has been an invited lecturer in several countries on five different continents and believes highly in the principle of volunteerism. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Strong enjoys amateur astronomy, reading philosophy, volunteering locally, hiking through beautiful areas of nature, watching the English Premiere League, failing at gardening, and spending meaningful time with his wonderful daughters.
